HEMA is not a cheap hobby. A typical kit can cost anywhere between $1,000 and $1,500 dollars. Many clubs either require members to purchase their own gear or provide loaner gear at a substantial rental fee. We are able to keep HEMA affordable for new people by collecting donations. Club Status Winter 2024
Currently we’re in the middle of a location kerfuffle. The short version is that we signed a lease on a location which will ideally become our permanent home which will feature the following amenities:
4000 square feet of space
Gear storage room for students to leave their gear at the club
Reception area for check in and merchandise purchasing
Lounge area for sitting on the couch and playing video games
Gym with free weights and cable machine
We were made aware that we’d need to get some permits to open. What we weren’t aware of was what work would be required to obtain the permits. Temporarily we will be hosting Wednesday night classes at Ace Axe Throwing in Homestead PA and at Highland Park on Saturdays. For the long version, please ready our most recent blog post on the subject. We will be making additional blog posts as developments continue but we have every intention to hold class and social gatherings during this admittedly awkward transitionary stage.
